People deal with stress in numerous ways. Some people freak out (like me), and others stay cool, calm, and collected and get the work done. There are many different strategies that relinquish the pressure. Some of these include: one day at a time, chunking the task, using sticky notes, study calendar, and most importantly 10 minute vacation.
There are a couple of specific tactics to relieve stress. They include: getting your mind off the work, and most importantly getting your work done early. The best way to get your work done early is to create a study calendar and to adhere to it. If you get behind on your calendar that is when your stress will pile up a lot.
Because I am a visual learner something that eliminates stress is my screensaver. If you ever get the chance and have an apple computer, the paradise screensaver is unreal. This visualization relieves stress like you would not believe. This visualization is compounded with my 10 minute vacation. Because often times instead of surfing the web, I would rather just relax.
Also another remedy thats relieves stress is the one day at a time technique. I keep my list of tasks that I have to do on the sticky notes on my desktop. I keep them in priority order and when I am done I either remove them or cross them out. Because I am a visual learner the image of the sticky stays in my mind at all times. The action I take to do this is simply to make a new sticky note per day. The material can range from homework to phone calls I have to make; it is probably my favorite technique.
Stress is a very powerful and infectious mindset. Once it sets in, it is very difficult to remove it. That is why you must keep on top of it at all times and try to not let it get out of hand. Every person will experience stress, however, not everyone knows how to deal with it.
I really like how you commented on your screen saver i do the same thing with a slightly different background but it definitely helps me escape for those couple of minutes!
