The key to getting homework done...a cookie!

In order for me to get motivated I have to be in an organized, neat environment. I also need a reward; something waiting at the end of the tunnel pushing me to get through my work. So before I start my work I have to clean my desk and bedside area. Once everything is clean, the assignment I’m working on has to be organized and neatly spread out across my workspace so I can see everything that I’m working with.

Although this does motivate me to start my work, I need something else to keep me going, which is where rewards come in. I always say to myself if I do this work, then I can go to sleep early, watch a movie or have a cookie! Something that I enjoy that makes me genuinely want to finish my assignment. I also reward myself with good grades; I say to myself: if I do well on this assignment then I can buy a new shirt or go out for dinner. This helps me because while I am in the process of working, if I ever have a weak moment I automatically think of the reward and that motivates me to keep on going.

This works for me because I am the type of Learner that needs to constantly read and write information multiple times. This can get very tedious and I often need motivation to keep going. The Action I take with this is motivating myself with cleanliness and rewards. The Materials I use are rewarding myself with things I enjoy doing like sleeping and shopping. My Evaluation is very positive! This system works very well for me and helps me during my weak moments, which are the worst.
